BNCBC - Alumni Dinner 2024
...The latest BNCBC Alumni dinner was held on Saturday 27th April 2024.
This year, three alumni crews took to the water. The first ever women's alumni crew boated first. Organised by Marcia Hutchinson, the crew was so keen that they even arranged a practice outing the afternoon before.
This year, three alumni crews took to the water. The first ever women's alumni crew boated first. Organised by Marcia Hutchinson, the crew was so keen that they even arranged a practice outing the afternoon before.
After the exertions out on the water the crews were joined by friends, family and fellow alums for some well-earned refreshments...
After the balcony refreshments, everyone returned to college with only a brief detour via the Turf and the Kings Arms.
In the speeches after dinner, Matt Campbell (BNCBC President) updated everyone on the latest from BNCBC. Bowman Fund Chairman Dan Brocklebank then thanked the BNCBC members and college for their hospitality on the evening. He also thanked all the trustees past and present for their help with getting the 1815 CIO to this stage and invited everyone present to join the 1815 Club which is shortly to be launched as the official club for BNCBC alumni. He ended with the traditional toast to the Childe of Hale which concluded the formal part of the evening.
After dinner, conversations continued for many hours.
Reflecting the next day on the afternoon and evening, one alum wrote that it was "A very good concept to provide a portal to the past, and to connect it to the present. It was so effective that walking back drenched from Park End at 3am with the lads had me wondering whether the last 30 years have all been a hallucination."
On behalf of all the alumni who attended, thanks to everyone at Brasenose for hosting the event including the Development office, the team in Hall and those from BNCBC who organised everything on the day.
