BNCBC - Alumni Dinner 2023
The latest BNCBC Alumni dinner was held on Saturday 29th April
As is now traditional, the festivities started with a battle out on the water. This year, an VIII of the 1998-99 era took on a challenger crew from the 2001-3 era put together by Raviv Shtaingos (President 2000-1). The race was kept mercifully short (for health and safety reasons) and was run along the green bank.

A 4 also took to the water for a social paddle:
After some refreshments on the balcony, everyone returned to college with only a brief detour to the Kings Arms.
In the speeches after dinner, Ella Shalom (BNCBC President) led a tribute to the club, past and present. Bowman Fund President Dan Brocklebank then shared an update on BNCBC Alumni activities including the pending publication of “A Pinnacle of Fame” and the new Regular Giving Programme. A toast was raised to the memory of Roma Backhouse (1977-2021), a former BNCBC 1st and OUWLRC oarswoman. The traditional toast to the Childe of Hale concluded the formal part of the evening.
After dinner, conversations continued for many hours and an alum with Irish heritage led a tribute to Luigi Manzi’s pioneering efforts in 1851.
On behalf of all the alumni present, thanks to everyone at Brasenose for hosting the event including the Development office, the team in Hall and those from BNCBC who organised everything on the day.
